The AMD Ryzen Threadripper 2970WX impresses amongst the current crowd of HEDT processors, but the new Intel Core i9-9900K completely upstages it as a faster, cooler and more power efficient CPU.


The ThreadRipper 2920X is a great successor to the 1920X, and in some cases, it matches the 1950X. The 2970WX is a decent addition to AMD's high-end workstation CPU line up and gives users other options when it comes to AMD's quad-die ThreadRipper CPUs.


Ryzen Threadripper 2970WX comes equipped with 24 cores and 48 threads. But there are caveats to consider. For instance, some applications fail to exploit the CPU's full complement of execution resources. As a result, the 2970X is only ideal for certain workloads.
