NVIDIA has unveiled the SUPER variants of the RTX 40 series, while AMD and Intel respond by launching new desktop and mobile processors to the market.


NVIDIA RTX 40 Refresh

NVIDIA announced at CES 2024 the new GeForce RTX 40 SUPER desktop GPUs, including the GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER, GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER, and GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER, which offer superior performance over previous non-super versions and integrate RTX technologies for ray tracing, DLSS 3, and generative AI. These GPUs will be available from the end of January 2024.

The RTX 4080 Super will retail for US$999, while the RTX 4070 Ti Super will retail for US$799. Finally, the RTX 4070 will be priced at US$599.

New production microservices for NVIDIA ACE (Avatar Cloud Engine) will enable game and application developers to create realistic and interactive digital avatars using generative AI models such as NVIDIA Audio2Face, NVIDIA Riva ASR. Developers who have adopted ACE technology include Charisma.AI, Convai, Inworld, miHoYo, NetEase Games, Ourpalm, Tencent, Ubisoft, and UneeQ.

New laptops with GeForce RTX 40 GPUs will be available soon, offering the same performance and features as desktop GPUs in a portable, lightweight form factor. These laptops are ideal for gaming, content creation, and generative AI, and will be available from several partners such as Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, Lenovo, MSI.

New AI-accelerated NVIDIA RTX tools and software, which allow users to harness the power of Tensor Core GPUs to create incredible content with generative AI. These tools include NVIDIA TensorRT acceleration of the Stable Diffusion XL model for text-to-image workflows, NVIDIA RTX Remix with generative AI texture tools, NVIDIA ACE microservices, and many other games that use DLSS 3 technology with Frame Generation.

AMD processors with RDNA3 and AM4 refresh

AMD has announced the first Ryzen 8000G desktop APUs with Zen4 cores, RDNA3 integrated graphics, and a dedicated AI NPU. These APUs support the new AM5 socket and DDR5 memory, and offer high performance in both gaming and AI applications. Here is the full list of processors with RDNA 3:

Four new AM4 motherboard processors based on the Zen3 architecture were also unveiled, including the Ryzen 7 5700X3D, which is optimized for mid-range gaming thanks to 3D V-Cache technology. These processors are compatible with AM4 motherboards after updating the BIOS:

As for graphics cards, AMD has unveiled the new Radeon RX 7600 XT, which is based on the RDNA3 architecture and comes with 16 GB of GDDR6 memory. The new RX 7600 XT has 32 compute units, 2048 stream processors, and a 128-bit memory bus, just like the RX 7600. AMD has improved the base and boost clock speeds, though. The total power of the card has also been increased to 190 watts, compared to 165 watts on the RX 7600.

Finally, the AMD Advantage program for notebooks and desktops expands, introducing the Advantage Premium category, which includes the most advanced and powerful systems equipped with the latest AMD processors. These systems offer an optimal gaming and working experience, thanks to the combination of quality CPU, GPU, display, memory, storage, and cooling.

New Intel Processors for Desktop and Mobile

Intel has unveiled the new 14th Gen Intel Core HX-series mobile processors, including the Intel Core i9-14900HX processor with 24 cores and 32 threads, which offer the best performance and connectivity for mobile computing enthusiasts.

The new 14th Gen Intel Core desktop processors with 65 and 35 watts, which deliver increased efficiency and robust platform capabilities for mainstream users and businesses. Here is the list of processors that completes the lineup:

The Intel Core 1 series was also revealed, including the Intel Core 7 150U processor with 10 cores and 12 threads, which offer high performance for thin-and-light mobile PC systems.
