As suggested in an anonymous twitter leak, the Canadian store DirectDial listed the Core i9-10900, Core i7-10700K and Core i7-10700 processors in the company's online store.

Last month, a Belgian retailer revealed the prices of tray versions for Intel's entire 10th-generation Comet Lake-S. However, hardware is generally more expensive in Europe than in America. DirectDial's publications, which correspond to Boxed versions of the processors, are more in line with what we can expect in terms of retail prices.

Recent price lists suggest that the launch of Intel's 10th-generation Comet Lake-S is imminent and that the previous announcement date of April 30th could be legitimate. However, launch day is one thing and availability is another. DirectDial will not receive its first Comet Lake supply until June 17th.

Intel Comet Lake-S vs AMD Ryzen 3000 series

The Core i9-10900 model would appear to have 10 cores and 20 threads. The 65W chip is sold on DirectDial for 679 CAD (about 487 U.S. dollars). The problem is that AMD's Ryzen 9 3900X, which offers two additional cores, is commonly sold as low as 434 dollars, albeit with a higher TDP of 105 W.

As for the Core i9-10900K model, which will be the flagship of the Comet Lake-S series, it will be equipped with a 125 W TDP, so it would be fairer to compare it with the Ryzen 9 3900X. Considering that the 65 W model will be around 500 dollars, Intel will surely set a price for the K-series part above 500 dollars. For reference, Coffee Lake's previous top-of-the-range, the Core i9-9900K, is sold for 505 dollars.

DirectDial has also incorporated the Core i7-10700K and Core i7-10700 models into its product catalog. These are 8-core and 16-thread processors that come with a 125 W and 65 W TDP (thermal design power), respectively.

The Canadian retailer has published Core i7-10700K for CAD 585 (about 419 U.S. dollars) and Core i7-10700 for CAD 506 (about 363 U.S. dollars). The Core i7-10700K will probably have to compete with the Ryzen 7 3800X. Although Ryzen 7 3800X share an identical number of cores and threads, AMD's processor is available for 339 dollars. Given the similar 65W TDP, the Core i7-10700 will face the Ryzen 7 3700X, which costs around 300 dollars at most retailers.

At present, AMD is providing more cores at the same price or at lower prices. Comet Lake will have an even more difficult path ahead of it. A recent report suggests that AMD is preparing the next-generation Ryzen 4000 processors, which enclose the Zen 3 microarchitecture, for an event in September.
